Indian army conducts test fire of DHANUSH


Indian army on 9 January, 2017 tested indigenous heavy artillery gun "Dhanush"
The Indian army had successfully launched "user - validation " trails of ATAGS i.e. Advanced towed artillery gun system named to be as "dhanush" in the region of Himalayans.

Earlier Dhanush proof firing trails armament systems were carried out in September and June 2016 and many initial trail firing were successfully fired out in December 2016.

About Dhanush 


It is an advanced towed artillery gun system, towed howitzer type missile used by Indian army. It is developed by Defense research and development organisation (DRDO) and designed by Armament research and development establishment (ARDE). Dhanush was designed from 2010 to 2014 and was produced in 2015.

The user validation missile weighs 12000 kg with length of 52 caliber 8060m and with batells length of almost 6975 mm.
It burst 3 round in 15 sec. Dhanush exact firing range is almost 40 km with thermal sight and Gunners display.
Special thing  about this missile is that the Gun weighs 2 ton lesser as compared to the guns of same category which not only enhance its accuracy but also  plays a significance role in firing simultaneously. According to DRDO and ARDE, the gun production is expected to start in 2019.

The 155 mm caliber gun with screw type breach contains magneto rheological recoil and electro rheological recoil. The gun traverse +/-25 .

The towed artillery gun on 14 July 2016 was test fired in which it was successfully fired and conducted Dhanush fires intense of 15 rounds in 3 seconds.
