Brah-MOS , a Indian-russian missile range extended

India and Russia agree to double the range of Brah-MOS

Both India and Russia have recently agreed to almost double the range of Brah-MOS cruise supersonic missile which was over 290km and now to be over 600 km.

¶. What is Brah-MOS supersonic cruise missile?

Ans. It is a supersonic missile used by Indian/Russian which was became in service in Nov 2006 . Indian army, Indian Navy, Indian air Force have the authorities to use this missile. Brah-MOS was manufactured by "Brah-MOS aerospace limited" which most probably costs US$ 2.73 million. Brah-MOS weighs 3,000 kg (6,600lb) , lengths almost 8.4m (28ft) and diameter of 0.6 m (2ft) .
It is a short range missile that can be launched from submarine, ships, aircrafts or land .
The name "Brah-MOS" is a portmanteau name which was formed by names of two rivers .i.e. Brahmaputra of India and Moskva of Russia.
Brah-MOS is the world's fastest anti-ship missile ever made in the history l.

Now coming back to our topic headline.

This decision is taken as :-
Earlier , India was not have access to missile technology over the range of 300km as indicated was not a state member of MTCR (missile technology control regime). But apparently India's recent acceptance to MTCR , forced Russia to provide all the critical systems and technology . As India now has new information , Brah-MOS range is extended over 600km.
Because of this decision India will be benefited as it will give boast to the stand off capabilities and radius operation in striking targets of the missile .
Brah-MOS can travel to atmost the speed up to Mach -3.
Mach 3 is three times the speed of sound which is why Brah-MOS is considered to be a supersonic missile.

¶. What is missile technology control regime (MTCR) ?
Ans. MTCR was established by G-7 countries in 1987.
The aim of missile technology control regime is to restrict the proliferation of Missiles.

All the technologies system capable of carrying around 500 kg for atleast 300km are handled by missile technology control regime (MTCR).
